The month of January proved to be the month that Amelia decided to sit all by herself! She is getting so big! Its hard to believe our baby is already at that point in her development! Great job baby girl!

Crawling Into Mommy's Lap
Amelia has been working on her sitting skills for quite some time. One night a couple weeks ago, Mommy was sitting with Amelia and she seemed a bit unsettled. She looked around, saw me and twisted around and pretty much crawled into my lap! I melted on the spot! It was definitely a first in so many ways! She ended up doing it 3 different times (the 2nd and 3rd with a little prompting from me) - and the third time, I had Patrick video it!
Copy Cat
Today we went to the grocery store and Patrick was playing with Amelia while waiting for me. He started to stick his tongue out and Amelia started to copy him! Back and forth they went - he stuck his tongue out and she followed suit. It was super cute, especially since when she stuck her tongue out it was off to the side just a little bit with a half smile! Amelia doesn't realize how nice it was to smile and have something to snicker at!
When we got home I fed her some supper and our little bird girl ate all of her food. As we at she worked so hard at buzzing her lips and she was quite successful. She dipped her chin and buzzed until her face turned red! We got quite a chuckle from her buzzing antics!

I'm a Frog!
Amelia has had this froggy fleece outfit since she was a baby and it has always looked HUGE! Then a couple week ago came.....and our 'tiny, little' baby fit into the not so huge sleeper! She is getting so big!!! But looking adorable in her little froggy outfit! Not only does she look like a frog, she also jumps like a frog...
Fast Friends
I think it is amazing how the connection between the dogs and Amelia has grown so quickly, without really even being near each other that much. The dogs have always been curious of Amelia - especially Indie! As Amelia has been in the kitchen more, due to eating solids and sitting in the bumbo watching us - she is constantly watching the dogs and is very curious about them. Daddy put Amelia down by the dogs and they all loved it!! Even Joey got in on the fun!
Of course Indie had his tail a-waggin' and gave Amelia a couple whips:)
Indie also kept trying to kiss Amelia....he has yet to learn personal space, so we are going to have to work on that for Amelia's sake.
Amelia and the dogs are becoming fast friends and I think it their friendship will only grow! Stay tuned!

On to Solid Foods We Go!!!
The week between Christmas and New Years, Amelia had her first bites of solid food! She was constantly watching us as we ate, so she was ready to partake in the world of food. Amelia started with rice cereal and prunes. At first Amelia would kind of 'forget' how to eat and have to re-learn the concept each time. As time has progressed, she remembered more and more quickly. Due to her cold we took about a week off of solids, since she wasn't really showing any interest in eating. Since re-starting this past weekend, Amelia has continued to do great! She is such a little bird, opening her mouth up and she eats a lot for just starting. So far she has had rice cereal, prunes, apple sauce and carrots. She loves her prunes and apple sauce!
How Tall is She????
Today we went in to the doctor. On Thursday - Amelia will have had a cold for 2 weeks. On Saturday she started to have this nasty sounding cough. I wanted to make sure it wasn't anything more.....and it wasn't - just a cold, so that is good news. Anyhoo - the point to my story....when they measured her length it was 27.5 inches. Which means she supposedly grew 2 inches in 1 week - impossible! One of the measurements is wrong, but we aren't sure which one. If she is in fact 27.5 inches, she will be in the 95th or so percentile. Long girl! So we'll have to see at her 9 month appointment which one was the correct length.
