Complex Trickery

This post has been a long time coming.....but generally speaking - I've been a bit behind in my posts (still in June - currently October - yikes!).   Anyway, I'm still pluggin' slowly away and my boy in particular is growing like crazy!  And this kid doesn't miss a thing - kind of like the other 2 but for whatever reason, he just keeps us on our toes.  Yes boy, yes other distractions, but still - complex trickery is all I can think of to describe it.

So it used to be things like getting into the trash or pulling out ALL the kleenex - multiple times.  It grew to getting on the stool in the bathroom and sucking on all the toothbrushes or pulling off the child protective things on a couple of the cabinets (we watch him very closely on a couple now).  He then graduated to lifting to toilet cover and splashing in the water (fun - ew), pulling everything out of my purse and finding the hand & foot cards - proceeding to open the zip lock bag and throwing them all over.

Now he has upped his game - and stick with me on this.....
Part 1 - Isabelle wanted some water, so I got her a water bottle and labeled it with an I on top.   She left it on the dining room table.
Part 2 - Couple days pass.  We sit down to watch TV after the kids in bed, Patrick goes to grab a water bottle and downs half of it and starts to get comfy on the couch....then says -  What's this?!  Looks down and there is an I on the water bottle.  Hmmmm, evidently Landon knows where the water bottles come from and felt he should put it back!   What a smart kid.

Gotta watch this kid!

California - Part 1

In June, we went to California to visit Great Grandma Didier!   Gramma and Grandpa also came with us.
(Yes, I know - these pictures are not oriented correctly, but they are cute and I was having issues with my phone....)
All the kids had goodie backpacks with snacks and activities.  Isabelle coloring.
Landon taking advantage of some snacks!
Amelia looking over the seat.  The kids did great on the plane!
Grandpa and Mommy
Getting some food and a super busy but good burger place.
Landon enjoying the milkshake...alllll over himself!
Santa Monica Pier
Driving down the road - we took the scenic route!  It was so beautiful and surreal.  The girls road with gramma and grandpa!
Amelia begged and begged to stop at a beach along the way, so we did!  First steps on the beach.
Landon, Gramma and Amelia walking down to the water
Amelia was so excited to touch the water!
Isabelle on the other hand was excited about the sand and definitely NOT the water!  I'm not sure if it was the noise or the wave that continually come up close to her, but she was not going to go close!
Amelia and gramma in the water
We continued our trip towards Santa Barbara
We got to Great Grandma Didier's house and we were all excited to get out of the car and take a walk around!
The girls running down the sidewalk for a morning walk
We took a day trip to Lake Kachuma (bad spelling), a small town that was packed full of people so we skipped and then off to Apple farm!  This is a look out along the side of the road.

How is this boy getting so big?!

Amelia posing!
And then Isabelle trying to pose with her!
My two men!

Looking out over the trees!  California looks green, but the leave are kind of dry and pointy - not quite like the leaves in Minnesota
Amelia going down the trail

Lake Kachuma - its hard to see, but the lake is incredibly low
Isabelle with her little brother
This is the original dock to go into the water.....it pretty obviously how the water has dropped.  Puts a whole new perspective on water and shortages.

The best thing at Apple Farm?  The apple dessert!
The ride back!  Beautiful!

Landon eating bread at the wharf
Amelia, Daddy, Isabelle and Grandpa.  We went to the craft show along the shore and it was a long walk, so the girls needed a ride.  It was also the location of Amelia's first bee sting!  The girl was so brave - after the screaming subsided.  She did not hardly complain.  Gotta watch out for the bees on the soap.
Walking back to the car
Looking out at the wharf
Great Grandma Didier and me!  It was so fun to see her, introduce her to my family and spend time together!
Landon loved to run around her house, but we would usually find him in the kitchen.....
looking at Great Grandma's dancing friends!
Looking out towards the patio
In Great Grandma's  backyard.   Despite the normal 'heat' you'd expect - being on top of a hill in Santa Barbara - the weather was very mild and nice!

Great Grandma and Grandpa talking
Landon getting some help from grandpa as he drinks.  (Note the oranges on the table....ooooooo so good)
The girls loved to go outside and play and chase the lizards....or maybe run away from him, but they definitely wanted to see him.
This day was beach day!  Landon loved the sand!

Isabelle liked the sand - and continued to stay away from the water :)
Amelia on the other hand loved the water and played in it.  It was a little chilly.  But dolphins were swimming in the cove near us.  It was very cool to see them so close.

Daddy and Grandpa in the water
Amelia with her noodle - the excitement is radiating from her!
Gramma and Isabelle playing in the sand!

I think this is the picture of the dolphins in the background

Nothing like a little pokin' from your baby bro

I have a part 2 coming of our California trip and some of the pictures may be similar; however, some will be new and better.  Its been so long since I posted, I at least wanted to get the first part out there!  We had a such a great time visiting and the kids really did great.  Thank you Great Grandma for letting us come to visit you!  We can't wait to see you again!
