Tooth Brushing

Brushing teeth with Amelia has proven to be quite a challenge over the last few months.  I have tried many trick, but not many work.  In general, its going better - we use an electric toothbrush and I have to force it, but overall I am able to brush her teeth with some success and she doesn't seem too traumatized afterwards.  And of course, Amelia always gets her turn to brush her own teeth, which she loves to play in the water while I brush my teeth.  Lately she has picked up a new skill during teeth brushing time.....spitting.  I think she enjoys this most of all and she tried her new found talent one time (ok - make that 2 as I write this - oh wait now three and four - I'm not joking either!).  I was going to say - now the trick is to keep it only in the bathroom and looks like that truly is the issue!

Explosive

So here is the question for the post.....How long can you spend in a Kohl's dressing room?

Gramma came up for a visit last week (and yes, I have older posts that I should do before this one, but as seen with my other post of forgetfulness - gotta get the good stories in while they are still fresh).  It was a great visit and I really enjoyed spending time with my mom and the girls.  I must say though - it was an adventure (and this is not all that happened!).

We went to Kohl's to shop a bit - and I had some clothes to try on.  I lead us back to one of the jumbo dressing rooms away from the mainstream for the sheer fact of having 2 kiddos and it was just going to be easier containment.  All was going well, I was trying on clothes, Amelia was quietly entertaining herself and Gramma was holding Isabelle.  Little did we realize 'quietly entertaining' meant Amelia was peeking underneath the dressing room wall at our next door neighbor (did I mention we were in intimates?).  Needless to say we realized when the neighbor shrieked..."ah, um, your child is......looking at me!"  (Imagine the tone as......shock, horror, and extreme annoyance).  After that moment there was a permanent frog of "eh-em" stuck in our neighbors' throat - come on lady - she is only 2!  She meant no harm!
I continue to try on clothes......then sniff sniff - whew!  It smelled like something had died - in Amelia's pants!  Nearly knocked us over and that wasn't even when the hood was opened! Gramma then discovers Isabelle has joined the party by exploding through her diaper all over her clothes - so I make a run out to the van to grab the diaper bag (of course I didn't bring it in the first time - why would you think that?).  While I was getting the diaper bag, Amelia got a snack from Gramma (perfect way to keep her in one spot and not peeking at neighbors) which she got everywhere!  She has not mastered the art of eating cleanly yet.
Amazingly enough, frog throat lady is still in the dressing room.  We change the girl's diapers (using makeshift face masks! ok not really but they would have been helpful) and clothes as necessary as well as the cleaning up the snack mess.
I am sooo ready to get out of the dressing room - it seems like it has been forever, but not so much.   Isabelle starts screaming!  She is hungry.  Gramma and Amelia take the explosive bombs away to the garbage while Isabelle eats.  At some point frog lady leaves - I only know because the dressing room evidently has motion sensor lights and I had been sitting there so long the lights went out.  Amelia and Gramma get back - and I'm stuck feeding Isabelle so I can't unlock the door, so I ask Amelia to crawl under the door and unlock it.  The girl is amazing - she figured it out!  I wrap things up with Isabelle - yes! we can finally LEAVE the dressing room.  Oh not so fast......Amelia starts talking about her 'dee...dee....stinky....stinky' and pointing.   Amelia are you going to do a stinky?  Solemn nod yes.  So we wait and sure enough.....the smell of death struck again - wow!  I change her diaper again....only to use my very last wipe to finish cleaning up Amelia.  If you notice in the picture....Amelia insisted on having a wipe and wiped her baby's bottom the entire time I cleaned her up.
After this - both girls are under strict instructions not to poop or pee or spill because we have no more wipes!

So back to the original question......how long can you be in a Kohl's dressing room?
Over an hour!

To top this story off, the next day we went out to eat with Daddy and Isabelle exploded once again, except this is the worst explosion I have ever dealt with - Amelia included.  She pooped so much, it went down into the seat belt hole and went into the very bottom of the car seat...to the point the whole thing had to be cleaned.  As a temporary fix Gramma worked on the car seat in the bathroom while I worked on cleaning up Isabelle.  While cleaning her up and transitioning her to the new diaper, she peed all over the mat to which we added to the list of things to clean up.  You may wonder how long that took???  Probably a good 20 mins!

2 Year & 2 Month Stats

Today we went to the doctor for checkups and both girls are healthy!  While I felt like I was part of a 3 ring circus the appointment overall went well.  Here are their stats:
Amelia
Height: 2' 11" -- 84th percentile
Weight: 27 lbs 6 oz -- 75th percentile
Head: 49 cm -- 90th percentile (to which the doctor said - lots of brains)

Isabelle
Height: 22.5" -- 44th percentile
Weight: 9 lbs 11 oz -- 10th percentile
Head: 37 cm -- 28th percentile
The doctor's description of Isabelle was long and lean.  He also said she was very strong - she was more than able to hold her weight when he stood her up.  And speaking of strong - Isabelle sat in the bumbo today all by herself!

The Adventures of Boo and Lou

The Adventures of Boo and Lou......who is Boo and Lou you may ask.  Miss Amelia is Lou because she is my lovie lou - so lou for short.  Miss Isabelle is either smiley because she smiles whenever you talk to her or boo because one morning Amelia decided to play peek-a-boo with Isabelle by saying "boo!" - I thought it was so cute it stuck for me.

Adventure 1:
Lately, Amelia has been very ornery when it comes time for me to feed Isabelle on the rocking chair.  She gets on and refuses to get off the chair, until I physically remove her - I think she is looking for attention.  One day - I was frustrated, so I decided it would be best if she took her nap early.  Amelia did not sleep a wink!  After quite some time, she started to cry hysterically - I thought it may be the big expression of emotion before the crash of sleep, but she didn't calm down so I went in to her and we started to rock.  I rubbed her back and patted it for quite some time.  Suddenly I felt this little hand start rubbing my shoulder and back - as well as a couple pats every so often.  I couldn't help but smile and chuckle a little.  Her little foot kept moving so I grabbed it and squeezed it a couple times - in response she reached her hand around her back, grabbed my hand and squeezed it a couple times.  Despite any frustrations Amelia may give me - I have to say its moments like these make life with her so special.

Adventure 2:
I try to find things Amelia can help me with when it comes to Isabelle - one activity Amelia LOVES to do is wake Isabelle up, whether it is from her swing or cradle.  Amelia loves the idea of ripping off the blanket, turning off the sound machine and rubbing/patting Isabelle's back.

I started this post a few days ago and at the time I had multiple cute stories of Boo and Lou, but alas - I have forgotten the rest of them.  I guess that's what I get for not finishing my post sooner - ugh.
